August 1992
For an introduction to what these Menu Diary posts are about, please click here.
Tuesday 28 July. “Basically” with the “Basic” underlined. I’m sure it would still have been good.
Wednesday 29 July. Trenna remarks that penne is a good choice of type of pasta. As long as I can remember, which is obviously not this far back, I thought we ALWAYS had that favourite meal with penne, but obviously not. It is the same meal that I talked about in the first of the Menu Diaries.
Saturday 1 August, probably until 3 August. We went camping in the native forest at Dwellingup, a bit over an hours drive away. We camped fairly often in those days. It must have been tough physically for Trenna but she always enjoyed it. On this occasion we were with our friends Christine and Colin.
Early August. I looked up another set of records Trenna kept and I can see that she was in St John of God Hospital in Subiaco from 4 – 9 August for an operation on her ovaries. I don’t think the ovary issue was because of Marfan Syndrome, but as Trenna was on warfarin (because of her heart valve replacement) it meant all operations were more time consuming and more precarious.
Monday, 17 August. The not all that good sounding “Tren’s Dry Beef and Potato Curry” was later to be known as “Tren’s Original Curry” which I have spoken of before. Trenna gives it’s “origin story” and the recipe in the Fourth Kitchen Tape.
Friday 21 August. “Curried salmon and rice slice” was apparently “very nice”. I have no recollection of it, so we may have had it again, but not regularly.
The rest of August, and most of September will be in the next installment.
