Medical Notes From Trenna’s iPad
Here is a page Trenna made about two eye problems she encountered.
Everyone is welcome to read the post, but it doesn’t contain any funny or poignant stories. I’m just trying to pass on some information Trenna accumulated in case it is of use to anyone else.
Maybe in the future it has historical benefit as well. Who knows!
In case you are wondering, according to the Mayo Clinic (who Trenna trusted for this sort of info)
Blepharitis (blef-uh-RYE-tis) is inflammation of the eyelids. Blepharitis usually affects both eyes along the edges of the eyelids. Blepharitis commonly occurs when tiny oil glands near the base of the eyelashes become clogged, causing irritation and redness. Several diseases and conditions can cause blepharitis.
Trenna’s THEORY was that because of Marfan Syndrome the “tiny oil glands” were even smaller in her.
The printed document within the PDF was given to her by her ophthalmologist, Dr Mike Walsh. He suggested that whilst holding the flannel to her eyes she should do “Union Jack Exercises”. Looking up, down, across and diagonal, as mentioned here.
Trenna did the Union Jack Exercises every morning to try to avoid getting the condition. She didn’t try the sodium bicarbonate or baby shampoo techniques from the leaflet.
For conjunctivitis the only treatment Trenna was aware of was the application of eye drops.
I hope this is on use to someone.
One reply on “Blepharitis & Conjunctivitis”
Tren gave me great tips for helping my dry eyes which I still use today. Of course my problem was nothing compared to her Marfan issues.
