What Are These “Rough Notes”

This is the first of a small number of these “Rough Notes” that I will be publishing from time to time.

As regular readers might expect they come from Trenna’s iPad. This document was headed “1970s” and it lists some key points and changes in Trenna’s life in the 1970s.

I think she has compiled it to remind herself of the interesting journey she has taken, but also to help some point down the road when she wanted her story told.

They are a great source of information and detail for me, and I hope they are useful and interesting for you.

If there is something you read here that you don’t understand, or you would like more information about please put a comment at the bottom of the page and I’ll try to help. After all, one of the goals of the site is to get you to know Trenna.

1973

Me living – GFS Girls Friendly Society, 122 Adelaide Tce, Perth
Go to Key Personnel for 3 months – top student. I love it – Typing old manual typewriters, plug in telephone switchboard, bookkeeping, Pittman’s shorthand (my favourite secret language).
Sent for job interview, got it, basically opened envelopes and made coffees and lost all my skills for a pay of $20.41, I paid exactly $1 tax!

3 April 1973 – 6 March 1975

Employed eventually as Accounts Clerk GIRLOCK SALES PTY LTD Office moved from Moore St, East Perth to fancy new building and warehouse in Newcastle St, North Perth.
Full eclipse, underaged drinking, embezzlement discovered by me but not understood, visit by Legatee to say he had heard I had been in trouble with law – Earl driving fast through private property wouldn’t stop for police. I was the only one dobbed in.

March to July 1975

Unemployed
Me living – 29 Chelsford Rd, Warwick, Nancy’s & Jim’s about 2 – 3 weeks then told to move on as this was not a place for me as they were trying to have a baby. When Nancy plucked up the courage to tell me, she said she was going to have a bath or rather, they were going to have a bath – together!

Me living- 121 St Wilmington Crescent, Balga, Barb & Alan’s about 3 months (Colin moved out) to Hyde Park. Large corner block of flats

June 1975

Me & Helen living with Zaby her dog, named after Marg Davies’ dog Zabadak cause she liked the name. Zaby was a not sterilised and always had dogs hanging round, one day we had to get the cold water hose onto her, stuck with a large golden husky/lab in her. The naughty boy did a runner & Zaby was pregnant

31/8/75 Sunday, Prickles born on my bed with 5 other pups, she was last out. Mum Zaby. I had a blue, fawn & brown patterned blanket and sat on the bed without seeing the pups, it was cold and we moved them into a box into the lounge and lit the large double sided fire place. My blanket was disgusting, we of course had returned from the Charles Hotel where we had seen the funk bands and danced the night away.

Live at – 42 Buxton St, Mt Hawthorn
Lulu, Mandy, me, later Mandy’s younger sister kicked out of home at 16 moves in & older sister, Irene in Navy but always stays when on leave.
I got in between a large knife fight brawl between Irene & Mandy and knew I had to move on.

19/11/77 (2nd night) Fleetwood Mac Rumours tour. I had tickets to go, I think with Aud, McLoud were playing at the Langford pub, we were living in Langford & chose the local band over the international band.
